The Foundation supports projects focused on the one undeniable point; we are all connected. Under the belief that all human beings are linked, regardless of their socio-economic standing or race, only through a sustainable society where one focuses on Hope, Love, Courage and Education can humankind survive. iocus uses the power of entertainment and education to connect people and change behavior, to solve global issues.

With our foundation, we aim for creating a new narrative for a more sustainable behavior. Entertainment is King! Powerful stories and role modeling should inspire others to do better.

We believe that system change has three layers.

Education Sustainability
Initiative
The educational initiative that iocus is developing adopts the idea that behavioral change will come through educating young adults. They will be the ones who recognize the problems, design solutions and implement them. With that in mind, we are developing an initial twelve topic middle school curriculum, using the United Nations “Sustainable Development Goals,” with the following parameters:

PLAN
iocus will produce a 10-15 minute film that outlines
an overview of the current problem and how it is being addressed in a local and
global way

educate
A lesson plan that models several solutions and. challenges the students to supply solutions on a local, community level.

action
Students put together
science projects to illustrate how to implement their
local solutions.

PRODUCE
Students document their projects on video (phone) to post on social media to
share with other students working on the same track.

Impact Campaigns
iocus will create impact campaigns to partner with the different projects we do with the Film & TV Fund. For example, our swimming movie, ‘Against The Current,’ set in Hawaii in the 1930s will deal with water conservation, race inequality and socio economic inequities. Each Television and film project will have an impact campaign that will allow the project to live on long after it has aired. Additionally, iocus will find worthy causes and projects to support such as our mission statement dictates: We will focus on entertainment and education to connect people and change behavior, to solve global issues.

Identifying new talent/voices

iocus will offer a grant to a talent(s)/new voice(s) that we feel embody the qualities that we have defined in our mission statement. We will have a 3 month period in the year where we will accept submissions and based on the guidelines we put forth, we will choose individuals that exemplify those standards for our grants. Our desire is to give a platform to a new voice(s)/talent(s) that, to this point, have not been give a platform to be heard. However, our purpose is not just to offer a monetary grant but also to offer support and a ‘mentorship’ to nurture and grow that talent or idea(s). This will not be limited to just the entertainment industry but to anyone who wants to spur social change. It will be based on the merit of the idea(s) and the person’s values that will be the back bone of our choices.
